Reading, Reading & more Reading!

Since Mallory was a baby she has been OBSESSED with books! We knew that the day she learned to read, she would read ANYTHING she could get her hands on! And she does!

Every morning we find her laying in her bed with a book or sitting on the couch under her blanket with a book. If we haven't heard a peep out of her for a while....she is somewhere with a book! She has to bring them in the car with us to read, even if we will be in the car for less than 5 min! The girl LOVES to read! And I love that she loves it!

See all those words on that page? She is in Kindergarten! She is reading 3rd grade level books. Books are coming home with less and less pictures in them. It is exciting and fun to see and she couldn't be happier about it!

For the record....

This year Mallory is going to kindergarten only. No full day. And she is doing perfect with it. We put her in a new school. I explained all of Mallory's "quirks" to the new principle and then told her that I didn't want to say a thing about Mallory's past health issues to the new teacher. She fully supported me in that choice. We both felt like it would be best for Mal to be treated like everyone else, and because of that she will be expected to act like everyone else is expected to act. It was the best fair chance we could possible give her! If she showed need for extra services we would let the teacher notice and bring them up. In the meantime, the principle pokes her head in the class from time to time to check on Mal.

Guess what......
3 weeks and not one single problem or tantrum AT ALL! The teacher is in love with Mallory and Mallory loves her right back! They are a perfect match! Mallory is thriving and this year is going to be HUGE for her! I have seen so much growth over the last few weeks! She rarely gets upset and her anxiety is almost non-existent! This is TOTALLY a huge blessing for our little stinker! We couldn't be more thrilled or more grateful! We know that this was directed by the Lord. He always knows just what is needed, and He is always willing to open it up to us, if we are willing to trust our feelings and His guidance! Man, I am grateful for that! I love that little girl and I am SO glad to know that our Father in Heaven wants to give her every opportunity in the world to overcome her trials! And she does and has! I mean, the girl had a brain bleed that was just a bit less severe than Dawsons. Look at her! She is amazing! I am so proud of her!

I am so proud of her. Maybe the reading thing is something she needs to calm herself. We all have our outs when things get tough, maybe reading is hers. Good for you Mally. Love you to pieces.

There is nothing more fun than reading a book with Mallory! It's easy to tell how much she loves it. She is eager to learn and discover all the things that books have to offer. It reminds me so much of when I was a little girl. Thank goodness for books and all the treasures that can be found.
