If I am not around for the next couple days it is because I am in a dark corner somewhere sobbing my eyes out!
Ok, not really! I totally know that crying will not undo the fact that I just entirely deleted EVERYTHING on my computer! Pictures...gone. iTunes...gone, Quickbooks....gone, forms upon forms made for work...you guessed it, GONE!
My computer started acting up really bad yesterday. I finally gave up on it when it stared shutting itself down and restarting on its own. However, if you click on anything...OFF it goes.
So this morning while nursing my migraine I decided to see if it was better and see if I could do a "restore" like I had seen Ryan do. Welp, come to find out...I am computer illiterate! Didn't click on the "advanced" button. Instead just clicked restore and POOF! Computer is stripped, stuff deleted and taken right back to straight from the factory status! Ok, I am going to puke...No, no I am not! I am going to be thankful that I have this blog where the majority of my pictures are stored anyway, be grateful that most forms are printed and sitting in a file, and well, I guess start over with my music collection and everything else. SIGH!
SO, lesson learned. If I don't know EXACTLY what will happen I will REFUSE to click it! This is a hard lesson! I am just thankful for a patient husband. He just said, Well, lets see if we can pull up anything from the back up from 10 months ago (yes, we should back up more often, another lesson learned) and start over. No big deal. He is better than I am. If HE was the one to have deleted, I am sure I would have let my frustrations show. Hmmm, seems like this is a day for me to learn A LOT!
So, for the next couple of days we will be installing, saving, looking for and building our computer back up to the point that I can work again! Sniff Sniff....until then....

Bummer! I feel so bad for you...seriously that sucks!. But when I told Jay he said its because you skipped church =). But don't listen to him =) Oh and Jay said he copied all your music and he's pretty sure he still has it somewhere. So at least you won't have to get them ALL back! Jay says he has your fav song "The Bad Boy Bongos" HEHEHEHEHEHEHE!
Oh this has happened to me.
I cried! With tears I called my neighbor and asked if he could help and with his magic fingers he restored my hard drive (external).
Oh...so sad. Picasa has all your blog photos in an album..
What a BUMMER!! I am "sniff, sniffing" for you right this moment! I am sorry... I hate that feeling. Last week I deleted some pictures of us in New York and could not find them anywhere... I was sick to my stomach! Luckily I was able to restore them, but I know how that feels!
That's it...I'm flying to your house so you can cry on my shoulder. (not really, but let's pretend)
I echo you...thank goodness for blogs!
Amy, I lost tons of stuff once and I was able to go in and restore my computer to an earlier date. Would that work at all for you? I am just sick for you too.
I am sooooo sorry. I would be so devastated if that happened to me. I am going to go and back up everything now on the external hard drive...Hoping you are able to find everything. If you need to call Tom, he is a computer genious!
Oh, I am so sorry Amy. I too, am sick to my stomach because that also happened to me about a year ago. Pics of my newborn children, everything. After that, my husband decided to get us a iMac, and starting fresh I won't do anything I don't understand. I feel your pain on the migraine thing, too. I get them all.the.time.
Aim, I am so sorry. I am thinking that the Atkinson Family video we do every year is a major blessing for things like this that may happen. At least that takes care of a lot of the lost pictures. I am so sorry.
Amy, I feel like I could puke just reading this. I remember coming back from a vacation to California, I had taken some of the cutest pictures of the girls walking on the beach with Nate. I accidently deleted them, I think I lost sleep for days over just that. I am so sorry.
HA HA Amy
Ooooh, Amy! I told you just go to bed. That's a sad, sad story. I even looked again at the date to make sure this wasn't an April Fools. Darn!
Amy,
What a bad day... You did the manufacturers restore didn't you? Windows does have the restore points, but I'm not sure what the manufacturers restore will do.. Probably puts windows in clean with no history? Right? So soory... I would be sick too. I keep two running backups so I don't lose my pictures and back up once a month. I've lost data before and I know how you feel.
Love Sondi
