my {LAUNDRY} saving grace.....

So, I was talking with my friends Kristin and Maren today. We were talking about the PAINS of laundry! SERIOUSLY I HATE FOLDING IT!! HATE IT! But I ALSO hate having piles of it waiting for me! I seriously feel like I can't dig into anything when my house is a mess or my laundry isn't done! There are two things that I have discovered to keeping your house clean....

1. ALWAYS unload your dishwasher as soon as the load is done! That way throughout the day, if there are a few dirty dishes you can just throw them in the dishwasher! I don't know if it is the same for you, but if I have dishes on my counters or in my sink...the rest of my house seems to go to pot with it! I don't know why...just does!

2. Having your laundry done and put away. One time I heard someone say, "Laundry is never done unless your dead or naked!" TRUE! So adjust your "done" requirements! Give each day a "laundry task" and you will have "done" laundry! This is the secret! I shared this with my friend Carrie and she loved it too! IT SERIOUSLY WORKS, TRY IT!

Assign a "load type" to each day of the week. That way you are NEVER doing more than 2 loads a day AND you have at least TWO laundry free days...with NO piled up and waiting for you, should really be washing those, piles waiting for you!

FOR EXAMPLE (this is what I do):
MONDAY= Whites & Light Colors
TUESDAY= Colors
WEDNESDAY= Jeans
THURSDAY= Towels (with Ryan's obsession of NEVER reusing towels...and Jake taking the same course this usually happens in two loads.)
FRIDAY= Bedding (I take all of the sheets off of all the beds and clean them. Once a month I do bedspreads. Otherwise I can do all the sheets in one load.)
SATURDAY & SUNDAY = NO LAUNDRY! WOO HOO!!

Each night before I go to bed I pull all of the following days laundry out of the hampers and put it in a laundry basket. Next morning, I get up take the basket downstairs and get it started. When it is done in the washer, put them in the dryer then as soon as they are done, I fold them right out of the dryer and take them up and put them away, then fill my basket for the next day and leave it upstairs for any additions that may come. Usually I am TOTALLY done with laundry by 8am!

Seriously, TRY IT! I have 5 people in my family, and thanks to Dawson, lately EVERYTHING he has been near is covered in poop (another post, another time). That might require an additional load. So I am done an hour later, big deal!

Anyway, just thought I would share! This has SAVED my sanity and for some reason when your dishwasher is unloaded and your laundry is "done" your house stays cleaner, you feel better, everything feels more organized! :) GREAT!

I love your comments Amy. I miss you so much. Thanks for the awesome ideas by the way. I am needing serious help on how to keep on top of the house duties. I've never felt so overwhelmed in my life...i am sure this has to do with the pregancy.

Bless your sweet hearts my fellow BSU fans! Your knowledge is far greater than any of those that currently live in Utah and cheer for BYU. I know you will find more peace in your life now that your mind is clear. Plus the fact that we whooped BYU's butt two years in a row.
from elizabeth again:
I AM COMING TO SEE YOU! what days are you aval?

Loved this post! I'm contantly looking for ways to make my life easier--and this is definitely easier than what I am doing. I'm still trying to figure out this whole "working part-time" thing. I thought I would have more time. I thought wrong.

Well ladies after 33 years of laundry I have finally found the answer. Have all your children get married and/or move away!! With Max on a mission my laundry has gone from about 20 loads a week to 2 or 3!! So hang in there and the problem will adventually take care of itself. Keep smiling!
