WOW!! What a day! Dawson had a successful day today. This morning he had his shunt replaced and all went really well there. He then was extubated within 20 min and is doing great. In fact, he didn't need any other oxygen to help him out! What a big boy! Then within about 2 hours he was starving. Yesterday he acted hungry so the Physical Therapist gave him a bottle. For the first time since Nov. 1st he let them put a bottle in his mouth without puking or gagging. Then he took 28mls. Which was a full bottle for a one hour feeding. I was on cloud 9! Then today he took 36mls from a bottle and would have taken more, but because of the time and trying to get him back on schedule they didn't let him take more, but he did want more! I have had such a good day. Ryan is home with the kids so I can sit here with Dawson all day and he and I have both needed and loved it!
What a blessing! I can't stop thinking about how blessed we are! Dawson's primary nurse and I have a theory that the shunt was actually malfunctioning in some way. He was just not himself. Then he gets this infection. The Lord knew that this needed to be fixed and got it done. Now he is bright eyed and feeling great!
The nurse practitioner told me today to plan on taking him home on about Wed. or Thurs. of next week. I wanted to take him home this weekend, but I will definately not complain about waiting a few more days and taking home a healthy and happy baby!
I did take some pics over the last couple of days and I will try to post them ASAP for you all. (If there is anyone still following this after all of our slacking in posts)
We love you all! Thanks for your prayers! They are why we have 2 beautiful and healthy babies!
Love, The Lindstroms
