Dawson is doing great today. He is a little swollen in his face, especially his eyes, but that is normal. He is off the ventilator and is doing well on CPAP. They should have him on a cannula very soon. The Neo Natal nurse that I really like at the U (and I like her for more reasons than just that she calls me a genius :) ) called over to primary to get the scoop on Dawson. There are a lot of things that they don't tell moms because they don't think they really need to worry about everything. Laurie V just wanted to find out if there was anything they weren't telling me. She said that when she talked to the doctor last night he told her that he was doing really good, and that everything went a lot better than expected. That is good to hear. He also told her that I am very sharp and that I must have a lot of medical background because I catch everything they are talking about and I really know my stuff. That is very funny. I think it is just that I have 2 babies in the hospital and they have been there for 2 and a half months and I am there everyday for 8 hours. But I will take the compliment :)
I have been praying very hard for my little Mal. I want her to learn to eat so bad so I can get her home, especially now that Dawson could be home before her. Today the Lord answered yet another prayer by prompting Laurie to randomly have Mallory's vocal cords checked out to see it there was any problem with them (which should have been obvious that there wasn't since she is kinda loud when she doesn't like something). While the ENT doctor checked them he saw (and heard) that they were just fine. He also discovered that there was a lot of lingering milk in her throat and a lot of inflamation. Mallory has silent reflux. This just means that she doesn't scream her head off everytime it bothers her. This is a good explantation to why she hasn't been eating well, why she has been a little fussy, and why she keeps having a's and b's and dropping her sats. These are all of the things keeping her from going home. They put her on meds for it. She takes some kind of something 30 min. before eating, then she has prevacid with her milk. Hopefully we will see a big difference in her in the next few days. I am also afraid that she is becoming very spoiled. Since Dawson has been sick I have not been able to hold him, except for an hour or so before his surgery. Mallory has been hold double because of this and now really prefers it. Tonight I held her and she slept so good. The second her back hit the crib she screamed, and I mean screamed! I picked her right back up and she immediately stopped. Her royal highness likes to be cuddled and loved all of the time and does not appreciate being put down. What a silly girl. Tonight I didn't mind so much because she doesn't feel good, but that will have to stop eventually :)
Well that is the skinny. I am headed to bed so I can do this all again tomorrow. Someday soon this will all be over and I can't wait!!
Love, Amy

I read once, I and I really like to believe that you can't spoil a baby, but you can neglect them-- so eat up that cuddle time!!!
Dad and Sondi,
Hey I got your messages and I am sorry I have not called you back yet. I hope your move went well.
I am sure that I will be here in Utah until, at least, the middle of November if you guys are planning on coming here. Call and let me know. I am usually at the hospital from 10:30 am until 7:30 pm so call before or after that.
Love you guys, Amy
