I am sorry that I kept you waiting all day to let you know what is going on. I am so grateful for all of your prayers today. I needed them and felt them so much!
First, I think I have learned today the true definition of a trial of your faith. It's when you pray so hard for one thing and have all the faith in the world that it can happen and then the Lord shows you that he had something else in mind. I really have to trust His will and leave this in His hands.
I do know that through all of our prayers for Mallorys head she will be getting what she needs very soon. Mal will go into surgery in the morning to get a shunt. This is not what I wanted, but what do I know. I know that Mallory is in her Heavenly Fathers hands and He will do everything for her that she needs, and a shunt happens to be it.
The CT scan that Mal had done came back showing that her ventricles are very large. The concern that they have is that lately on the days when the ventricles are full the pressure is changing Mallory's personality. She doesn't eat or wake up and she has bad headaches and cries. They are afraid that the pressure on her brain from the ventricles is hindering her development and that she definately will need a shunt. They also are worried about tapping her so much. Everytime you tap you run the risk of infection, like Menengitis. That would be bad! Although you also run the risk of infections with a shunt they seem to think that it is a better option. They want to do the surgery tomorrow at 11:30am. They will transport her over to PCMC in the morning, do the surgery, hold her there for 1 hour, then send her back to the U. That will be good. I would rather have them at the U. From there she will just need to recover, which really doesn't take too long with this type of surgery. Then both the babies just need to learn to eat and we are out of there. One more hill to climb there and we will go back home!!
Dawson is doing so good. He is back on the cannula and is being fed! This is great! He only gets 2 MLs but it is wonderful that it only took him 4 days to get to this point. What a good boy!
Both babies will probably come home close to the same time. That will make things a little easier for us. I am sure Ry and Jake are ready for us to come home. I know I am ready to be back home with my boys. I miss them soooooo much!
Well, I will let you all know how the surgery goes tomorrow. I will even try to put up a post when they are done with the surgery. In the surgery they put a little bit bigger bulge just under her skin in her head, which will be eventually covered up by hair. They take a tube and run it just under her skin from the reservoir bulge to the side of her head and down her neck into her bowels. The tube will just serve as a constant drain for Mallorys ventricles. It will drain into her bowels and she will pee it out. The projected time for her to have to have a revision and have the ube lengthened will be in about 2-3 years. Sometimes they end up not needing them for that long then they don't have to have anymore surgeries, except sometimes they go in and take it out. We will see.
Thanks for all of your prayers. I couldn't have done this day without them. Thanks!
Love, Amy

Hey Aim,
Once again I am no doctor, but I just have this feeling that she was has all of those a&b spells because of this problem.
This could be the last major obsticle for sweet Mal. She and Dawson will be home before you know it.
I love you so much. You are a great example to me.
Love, Lisa
You would not believe how many people have been coming out of the wood-work with possitive stories about shunts! I'm not saying that this is the perfect sitution, but if it will help her, then it's a blessing. This is all such a miracle...
We hope all goes well with the surgery!
Hey Ryan,
Courtney misspelled situation. Just thought you might want to know.
Do you really want to get me started on spelling corrections? Or do you want to respect the fact that I'm typing one-handed, holding a baby, and pondering the idiocy I find myself surrounded by on a daily basis, anonymous?
Gotta run, my baby just crapped her pants, apropriately.
Have fun spell checking that!
You will have to pardon Courtneys misbehavior, she doesn't take being wrong lightly!
Love ya Courtney!
My objection is to people who care about SPELLING!!! The missuse of words is one thing, but spelling? What are we, in 3rd grade? If I wanted to be in a spelling bee, I'd braid my hair, put on knee socks and become a creepy little school girl!
And sure, spelling counts on a job application, but the www is full of lol's and cul8rs... hello?
Ok so the only problem with this is that you were taking part in making fun of Kevin for spelling bleak-blike and bum-bume.
I am not calling out your wrath, just so you know. I know that I spell things wrong and stink at grammar. My purpose for this post is just to remind you how funny it is that Kevin spells bleak-blike and bum-bume! Silly Kevin!
I think it's okay to laugh about spelling when you are playing SCRABBLE... but the web is not scrabble :) Oh no! I forgot to capitalize that! Die! Oh no! That's a fragment! That's a fragment too!
Too bad "anonymous" isn't here...
