The Kid Who Can't Decide, A Hero & A Post Wherein Robert California Will Impart His Wisdom!

Halloween this year was one of my favorite years. I think it has something to do with Jake getting to trick or treat for his first time EVER in Utah. There is a BIG difference! LOTS of houses. Lots of people. Lots of candy! Not only that, but he got to spend the night wandering the streets with his friends. No adult supervision! I can't believe he is old enough to do this, and at the same time I love to see it happen! Jake thrives in Utah because of more opportunities to be independent. I love that!

The festivities started with Jake's school parade and my favorite Halloween costume EVER!

{Pardon the HORRIBLE quality of my pictures. Please leave a comment requesting that my dear hubby purchase a new AWESOME one. Not for my sake, of course, but for the sake of your poor peepers! Surely he will have to respond to that....right?!}

Jake dressed up as a kid that couldn't decide what to be. Pretty creative little stinker, if I do say so myself. The dress up box provided plenty of entertainment as we mixed and matched. As you can see, he was happy with his final result! And we were still missing some of the costume at this point! Silly kid! I think he had everyone at the school parade doing a double take.

So did this guy! How cool is that costume?!

Cool, but not as cool as it was when his little boy walked by as Ernie and his Dad got up and walked the whole parade with him! Loved it!

Also loved that my neice Olivia wanted to be Elphaba. Not just Elphaba, but pre-wicked witch Elphaba. Dear Old Shiz Elphaba, if you will.

And who is this cute little dinosaur?

Why it is Master Calvin! What a cutie!

Night finally rolled around. We took the kids to Taco Amigo for dinner then headed to a big block party.

Here is Jake in all of his glory....well almost. He gave up on the big fairy wings that once perched on his back. Man, I loved those! It completed the whole thing nicely.

However, the rock star ear microphone didn't do to bad a job of adding to the whole thing. What a goof!

DUH-DU-DU-DUH! It's SUPER GIRL!

{Seriously, what is the DEAL with this camera! GRR!}

Mal made a last minute change from a Flying Lion (Lion with Fairy Wings) to Super Girl. She was one of the best parts of the whole night! Every time someone would give her a treat she would VERY passionately say, "And Happy Halloween to YOU!"

She pretty much loved EVERYTHING about this whole day! And the switch witch topped it all of nicely for her! AWESOME! What a blast!

And now for my new favorite quote!

Have you watched the Office with Robert California?

I did not think they could replace Michael Scott. Oh my! I LOVE Robert California! After not watching the Office for a couple of years, Ry and I have started watching again, just for this guy! He KILLS me!

Today's life lesson comes from the end of the Halloween Party episode.....

"Fear plays an interesting role in our lives. How dare we let it motivate us? How dare we let it into our decision making, into our livelihoods, into our relationships? It's funny isn't it? We take a day a year to dress up in costume and celebrate fear?"

Not hating on Halloween, but really the first part of that is something to think about, isn't it?
