THE BENEFITS OF MY HUSBANDS HABITS

I tend to give Ryan a hard time about his habit of ALWAYS looking for the best deal.....NO LONGER MY FRIENDS!
Ry is always keeping his eye on the Building Material Thrift Store, which can have some SERIOUSLY awesome finds! One day we missed a brand new, never been used top of the line front load washer and dryer for only $600! Turns out the lady that bought them didn't like the way they looked in her house, so she didn't quite feel like taking them all the way back to Twin and made it as far as Hailey to drop them off at the BMTS! It took a while, but I have finally got over my sick feeling from missing that!

Ryan also loves to check out KSL.com and stays pretty current on what's new there. He got my Treadmill last year off there. We got it for like half the price because the box was punctured by a fork lift....the Treadmill was in perfect condition and came with a warranty!

He also picked up a SWEET 1980 something Nomad trailer this last fall! 800 bucks!! Other than a little updating and replacing some floor boards it is PERFECT! It is really big and nice and will fit us perfectly! The guy that owned it died and left it to his son, who already had one, but no room to store this one. He was looking for a quick off load! THANKS!

Yesterday, in my opinion, we hit the jackpot! Ryan can't go to Twin without swinging by the DI, and man am I glad he did! He found a table that will sit about 8-10 people. It is in PERFECT Condition and hardly looks used! There is one little tiny scratch, but you can't see it unless you are right by it and looking for it! It is BEAUTIFUL and it is Pottery Barn! $400....yep! That's it! We couldn't believe it! There was NO WAY we were going to let that go! Isn't it pretty??!!

So, all of this thanking Ryan and being thankful for his habit got me looking around at our nicely furnished home and realizing just how many things we have bought that are SO nice and were SO SO cheap....here are a few!

ENTERTAINMENT ARMOIR
This beauty was in near perfect condition! We picked it up for $300. I had been saving to pay at least $1200 for the one I wanted, which is SO similar to this one! I just slapped a little black paint on it, distressed it a bit, put on new handles and VOILA! AMAZING!

THE DALE CHIHULY TREE
One of our customers is Dale Chihuly. If you see blown glass art.....THAT'S HIM! I googled him because his Property Manager made a big deal about not mentioning his name until she had too. I had never heard of him, but there was a picture with him and Queen Elizabeth. I guess he is kind of a big deal in the art world. Anyway, one day he decided to redecorate his house and his PM was hauling this out to throw it out. She asked Ryan if he wanted it cause she couldn't fit it in her car. Sooooo......here he sits! We lovingly refer to him as "Dale" and he was free! Perfect condition and LOVELY! New, this sucker would have been about $300!

MY DESK AND PEDESTAL (That I totally took over....sorry babe!)
I LOVE this desk! Ryan wanted a desk for our study in the old house, I told him it couldn't be a "Shopko Special" and that I might just be picky about what he put in there. SO next day he found THIS at the BMTS! It is one seriously heavy beast! I KNOW! It is SUCH a nice desk, and it is in PERFECT CONDITION (don't worry Ry, I won't mention the hot bowl ring you left on it!) It came with the little pedestal that the printer is sitting on.
TOTAL $175
We are figuring that the same pieces would have been a lot closer to $700-$800!

CONGRATULATIONS on the new dining room table. It is beautiful! My favorite thing is to get a good deal on something...always a bargain shopper--but only for GOOD things, not junk!

Amy, you are completely full of CRAP! This is one of your funniest posts EVER. :)

Chihuly actually got his start in Tacoma and his glass is a big deal... the old tree however? $300? Am I missing something? I think you've lived up there in la la land too long!
