I don't know that there is a Grandma in this world that loves babies more than Grandma Atkinson! I love the way she just sits and cuddles, talks to and sings to them. It is so much fun to watch.
Ryan and I had prayed and prayed for 2 1/2 yrs, for a baby, before we had Jake. Just days before I found out I was pregnant Grandma Atkinson was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. They had found that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and the outcome didn't look good. Grandma was sick and her immune system was weak. We were all so scared for her! When I found out that I was expecting one of the first things I did was go and tell Grandma. We made a deal. She would fight through the Chemo as hard as she could and we would go through it together, and at the end, there would be a sweet great grand baby for her to hold.
After almost 9 months Grandma was finally finished, and so was I. Grandma was one of the first people to come visit! She was so excited to see her grand baby, and I was so excited she was here to see him! She went through another few months of radiation, which ended up being really hard on her. She was quite sick. She has now been in remission for over 6 years!
I love my Grandma so much! Her and I have such a sweet relationship! She is such a loving person. She worries about and wants the best for all of her family. She has such a special love for Dawson. I know there have been many tears shed and prayers said on his behalf. It is fun to watch her play with him. He loves her so much, too! I think he knows that when he gets held and cuddled by Grandma Atkinson it is extra special!

After all the playing, they were both worn out! Both of them took a little snooze on the couch for a while! :)
