So--I had surgery today. I don't really know what else to say about it except that it happened, and I guess it all went well. Amy prepared me to 'get the best sleep I've ever had' in the hospital after surgery, and told me that the surgery was worth it just for the sleep you get after you come to and you're still pretty drugged. Well, I woke up, apparently in a bit of pain and confusion, because the nurse was trying to calm me down and acted like I was going to create a classic scene of ripping off all the wires and tubes and running out of the hospital in my gown and bare butt. They immediately pumped a bunch more drugs into me, followed by more, and more, and more, until finally they told me they had done all they could through the IV, and the only thing left was pills. They called Amy and told her that I wasn't ready to go home yet like they thought I would be. They wouldn't let me get up by myself, because apparently it took a 'boat-load' of drugs during and after surgery to handle the pain, much more than usual. So, I DIDN'T get any real sleep in the hospital, then I came home to screaming babies and the wonderful noise of construction coming from the half finished addition upstairs, getting slightly more than no sleep. Gee whiz, I'm a real complainer aren't I? Anyway, I'm just biding my time until the drugs kick in, putting me back to sleep--which isn't too far off now. In other news, the addition is almost ready for sheetrock, the babies are fat and happy, Britney is breaking up, and the only reason outer space exists is because it's afraid to be on the same planet as Chuck Norris.

You are a great writer. I'm sorry the drugs don't work for you, but welcome to the family. They don't work that great for dad either. Hope you get feeling better soon.
Maybe you'd feel better if you recouperated in a VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!
On Saturday, our local radio station was giving away a Brit/Fed Break-up package: a bucket of chicken, a single red rose (the gas station kind) and a make-over at WalMart.
