Fast Day for Mallory

Tomorrow (Thursday) we will be fasting for Mallory. She has been tapped quite frequently for the last couple of weeks. They thought they would not need to but she keeps having a lot of build up of pressure in her head. The problem is that it is now changing her personalitly a bit. She is her normal self one day, then the next, as the pressure grows, she is tired and unable to wake up so that she can eat. This is not helping her at all. She needs to eat so that she can go home. Today the doctor came in a spoke to me about needing to do a shunt. She said that there are a lot of complications associated with a shunt. She would need surgeries to replace the shunt every 2 years until she has stopped growing. She also has a risk of infections with the shunt. If she gets an infection it can damage parts of her brain and hinder her developmentally.

Tomorrow morning at 8:30am they will take her into a CT scan at PCMC. The surgeons would like to take a look at it. Depending on what they see they might put a shunt in her head as early as Sunday.

My feeling is that miracles have happened with these babies and they will continue to happen. I don't know what the Lord's will is in this situation, but I trust it. I am hoping that through fasting and prayer she will be able to overcome this problem on her own and not need the surgery. However, I have learned through this experience 2 things. One, through prayer and faith all things are possible and two, these babies are in the Lord's hands and only He truly knows what is best for them, it is up to us to have faith enough to see her healed on her own, or trust the Lord when it goes contrary to how we hoped it would go. He knows what is best!

I love you all and thank you for all of your love and support. Thanks for your willingness to fast for our sweet Mallory!

Dawson is doing great. He goes back and forth from CPAP to nasal cannula. This is to be expected with the tube that they have down his throat right now. He looks wonderful and should be back to himself soon.

Love you all,
Amy
