HAPPY HAPPY FULL DAWSON!

I think I may have forgotten to even mention this, but Dawson now has a feeding tube. This may seem like a step back, however, in talking to his feeding therapist and his doctor, we really see this as a stepping stone! Ever since we took the tube out, eating has been a struggle for Dawson. He has so little energy to spare, it was hard to give up all of his energy to eating, then whatever food he got, which was never enough, was already burned off just trying to eat it.

A couple of weeks ago, he gave up all together for a couple of days. He didn't want to eat at all. So we went and got him a tube. He will be getting a Gtube soon. That is a tube that will go directly into his stomache, which sounds bad and inconvienent, but it will actually be a lot less in the way than the NGtube that he has now. We will offer him something to eat, and whatever he doesn't take will go right in the tube. He will have a certain amount of calories to get a day and he can take whatever he wants by mouth and then not worry about the rest.

Can I just tell you that this NG tube has been such a life changing thing for him! He is the happiest boy. He is doing amazing in all of his therapy's and he is really working to hold his head up a lot more! What a blessing!
