BLAKE ISLAND

 

Syd, and a friend of hers, and Jake playin in the seaweed!

Straight out from them on the other side of the water is part of the Seattle/Tacoma area.

 

Brooklyn (Kate's, Courtney's sister, little girl) and Tawni (Courtney's little girl) enjoy their cookies together on the beach! While Jake, in the background, sneaks another one, which "Grandma Horch" said is fine because, on the island you always get extra dessert.



So, Port Orchard is right across the Puget Sound from Seattle (correct me if I am wrong Courtney, I know you will :) ) We went down to the harbor, which is like 2 min. from the Horch's house, and Brian (Courtney's dad) took us on a 10 min ride on the boat out to Blake Island.

I had never been on a boat on Ocean water before. CRAZY! And then just to jump in and head to an ISLAND! WOW!!

We had a nice little picnic and collected more seashells, then just hung out on the beach for a while. It was so nice there. I can't believe the Horch's grew up doing this all the time! Just to read the newspaper and watch the sun go down! Growing up in Utah made me think that the Ocean and all of it's creatures are almost mythical :)

Anyway, on our way back to the harbor "Grandpa Horch" took us to some buoys so Jake could see a REAL Sea Lion. He was so excited! We saw three and even got a cute picture of Syd, Jake and the Sea Lion. Then Grandpa let Jake drive the boat for awhile. Jake was soooo excited! He had so much fun!!
