I took this pic just before we came home. I can't stand being away from him, but I know he is being taken care of!
Dawson is doing great! He is now on Ad Lib feeds. This means that he eats whenever he is hungry and he takes it all (usually) by bottle. They give him a minimum amount that he needs to take in a 12 hour period then they let him go. If he does not reach the amount they give the rest to him by tube. He has been doing well and is doing most of it on his own. This is huge for him!
They did a CT scan yesterday. They were worried that he might have an absess or a cyst in his ventricle that all of the infection was clinging too so they could not get rid of it. The good news is that there is not. The better news is that his ventrilces are shinking a little bit back to their normal size. This is good because when I spoke to Dr. Walker (brain surgeon) the other day he said that before he puts the shunt back in he will make sure that it is needed. Ventricles shrinking could be a good indicator that he might not need it. We will see!
Dawson is starting to feel a little better. He is awake more and eating more and less fussy. That is good. He is not shaking anymore from the neurological irritation, I am sure that he thinks that is great! We really look forward to getting him home and catch him up. We can't wait to show him how fun life can be! We are sure he will love it!
Mallory is doing really well at home. She is now 22 in. long and weighs 10lbs 4 oz. She has got cheeks, but she is pretty petite. Dawson will look like a giant with his almost 11bs I am sure!
Mallory is a smile a minute. She has the biggest crush on her daddy and when he is holding her she smiles so big at him and talks to him the whole time. She is so much fun! She is sleeping pretty good at night. If she goes to bed at 9pm she gets up at about 4am then 8-9am. It's not through the night anymore, but I am sure that will come back again soon.
We will be going in for a CT scan when we get back to Utah for her. Her head is not growing and the Dr. thinks that is because her ventricles are also shrinking and she can probably have her pressure changed so she drains less. That is good!
All in all we are all doing great. We can't complain. We will be heading back to Utah on Tuesday and will stay there until Dawson comes home or February 7th (Mallory's next doctor appts), whichever comes first.
We love you all! Enjoy the pics below!
