DAWSON! (and his beautiful eyes)

Brace yourself, I have nothing but good news! Dawson is doing so well! His eyes are now focusing and holding on objects and he seems to feel so much better. He has also stopped doing his "Neuro Cry" which is a high pitched scream that is a sign of irritaion in his brain, basically. He is acting so good and we are happy. He also tips the scales at 11 lbs. 6oz. and he feels more like 20...he is soooo heavy! He is also completely shunt free! They removed his EVD today! He has actually had it turned off for a day and a half and doing well. They will watch his fontanel (soft spot) for bulging and his head circumference. If they show signs of excess fluid they will take him in on Tuesday and place a shunt. They he will go home next weekend. However, if on Monday he is not showing signs of needing his shunt they will send him home possibly on Tuesday. That is just 2 1/2 short days from right now! If he does go home without a shunt Dr. Walker will just have us come down about once a month to check him out. Even if a few months down the road he ends up needing one he will most likely get to have it in his tummy, which would solve the problems we had with his in the first place. Best case....we never end up needing one for him!

His MRI yesterday was awesome. It was amazing to see what they can see with those. The doctor showed me his brain and the areas that have damage from the blood. It is such a small amount, that was good news! He also could see that the thinking part of his brain is not damaged at all. The part that is involves more of his nervous system and movement. The amount of damage is so small and that is good news. What ever the outcome it is what his father in heaven wants and we will work hard. I know that he will be just fine!

So as of right now Monday is the day. We will find out on Monday if the shunt is going in or not. So we will definately keep you posted! Keep praying! We are going home soon!
