All is going fairly well. We are adjusting to Mallory's schedule and it is going good. Mallory is a really good baby. She doesn't really ever cry unless something is bothering her, and even then it is very short lived. If we put her to bed at about 9-9:30pm she only wakes up once during the night to eat. Usually at about 1:30am then she goes right back to sleep and sleeps until about 7am. I really like this schedule!
I just got a really sore throat and I am not feeling well. I am sure that my immune system is a little weak with all of the stress I have had over the last week. It totally hammered me last night in the night. Ryan gave me a blessing and I am feeling a lot better today. I am so afraid of Mallory getting sick. I don't know if she will get this or not and what that will do to her. We do have a doctors appointment today so I will have to find out.
Dawson is doing great. He was put on the occilator the other day instead of the ventilator. The difference is the vent breathes for him in really deep breaths at about 15 breaths per minute. The occilator gives a lot shorter breathes at a much faster pace of about 400 breaths per minute. After someone has bowel surgery they tend to get very swollen. They noticed that he was getting quite swollen and they didn't want him to have pain from it with the deep breaths. That is why he has the occilator. His swelling has gone away almost completely now and they will put him back over the the ventilator and start weening his morphine. They will extubate him when he starts breathing over the ventilator, which they expect to happed tomorrow.
Other than that there are really no changes. He is doing great and the good news for all of the grandma's and grandpa's is that they are asking infectious control if it is ok to remove him from isolation so he can have visitors again. His cultures the last couple of days have all come back negative so hopefully it will be really soon!
I now have a glimpse at how busy life will be for us in these next couple of years. Not only do we have just what it will take to take care of these two babies. We have a ton of doctor appointments. I had so many people call to set up appointments for Mallory yesterday. She has her regular doctor appointment today, early intervention and child development will come on Thursday, Eye exam back at PCMC on the 28th, Neurosurgery follow up on about the 12th of December and then every 3 months after that for the first year, and appointments starting on about the 10th of December and once a month for the next 4 months to get her RSV shot, oh and appointments with a physical therapist, which I have no idea when they will be.
Kind of crazy, wait until we add all of Dawsons appointment to the mix. I hope we can adjust things a little bit to kind of get them on the same schedule. That would be very nice.
I tell you I wouldn't trade my life now for anything. Yeah, we have a lot of stuff we will have to do and it will be crazy, but I have 3 perfect children, when we didn't even know, at one time, if we would be able to have any! I love being a mom. I have loved coming back home and getting all organized and just living a little bit of my normal life outside of the hospital. When we first got home and Ryan and I were standing in the kitchen and I was holding Mal, Ryan said, "Having her home almost makes me want to cry" I think we both wondered if this would ever really happen and now we are half way there. Ryan has had so much on his plate over the last 3 months. What a great guy he is! He has done so well balancing way more than his share, but he rarely complains, he just made the best of it so I could be with the babies. What a great man! It is so nice to be home with my boys!
Well, I will continue to keep you all updated! Thanks for everything!
Love, The Lindstroms
