Well the results are in. Mallory has a little bit of a seeping of the fluid from the ventricles, which really means nothing. Dr. Chan, the babies doctor, took me down to radiology today to have them give me the scoop. This really did nothing for me. I just kept thinking "ya'll know some really big words and I am impressed and all, but seriously, just give it to me straight". So the skinny is that Mallorys ventricles are the same and Dawsons are getting better. No need to tap Dawson still. We are going on 2 weeks and he is doing great. Mallory was tapped today after a weeks break from it. I think they are just trying to finish it all off and we are hoping that she will not need to be tapped again!
Both babies experienced a bottle today. We are trying to teach them that sucking means food. They both did very well. Mallory is determined to do it on her own and show me she can and Dawson is more cautious. He looks at me with huge brownish, trusting eyes and counts on me to help him through it. They are both so darn cute.
Mal had her bath tonight and Jake helped out. Jake also took her temp and helped with her diaper change. He is such a good big brother. Dawson was content to just sleep tonight. Which was fine. He had a big day with the whole diaper thing. Mal also just finished day 5 of the necessary 7 without any a & b spells. She is getting closer to home. Daws has about 10 more days to the much antisipated "put him back together" bowel surgery then it should be all down hill from there.
It is so nice to have the healthy babies in the unit. It is fun to go home with a smile after 11 hours a day, everyday. They will come home, we know that because thus far we haven't seen any 26 year olds laying around in cribs there! I am thinking that the middle of Nov. is a good estimate, although it is possible that they could go home sooner than that. We definately hope that happens.
Well have a good night. I have got to go to bed so I can do it all again tomorrow!
Love, Amy
