Keep going there are pics below!

Just a little update on the babies. You can look at the pics below and see that they are doing great. I hardly recognized Dawson he is so chubby! When we got to the hospital for the first time in 1 1/2 weeks they came and told us that they were glad that we were there because they wanted to start teaching Dawson how to nurse. I was way suprised! I knew Mallory was ready, but I thought it would be awhile for Dawson. We tried and he did pretty good, I guess his cues were all normal for a baby his age and they gave him an A+. They have been pulling fluid out of his head everyday and I was there today when they did it. The nurse that pulls the fluid out and is kind of a specialist in this area said that this is completely normal. She also said that they have not had to put a shunt in for a "long long long time". She thought that in about a week the taps on his head will slow down and they would start weening him off of them. If they end up not needing to tap it anymore they still leave the reservoir in until they are about 1-2 yrs old, just in case. This is all very good! Hopefully he will continue to progress like he is, then he should be able to go home in the middle of November, hopefully at the latest!

Mallory is doing great. They took her cannula out today and she is breathing on her own. She seems to be more of a natural at nursing and is trying really hard and making some really good progress. Her head is being tapped every other day and she is doing well with that. All we are really working on with her is getting her fat. They had to up her calorie intake on her feedings because she wiggles so much she started losing weight. While she is learning to nurse they still give her the full feedings of 29 ML's of milk fortified with 27 calorie stuff. I guess that is a lot. Plus whatever she gets from me. Hopefully this will help!

It is good to be back. It will be hard to be away from home and my boys again for awhile, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we are going as fast as we can towards it! Sorry about not posting very much over the last week. The babies have really not had any down days for awhile. They are out of the woods and doing great!! What a blessing!!

We'll chat with you later!!
Love, Amy, Ryan and the kids
